This is the second year in a row that I have been selected to attend and bring 3 students to the Illinois State Capitol Tech Day. Tech Day at the Capital on May 7, 2019 is the 29th Annual Student Showcase that takes place in the rotunda of the Capitol in Springfield. State legislators, community members, and the governor will attend to see what technology is being utilized at schools across the state.
I applied via an online application stating what technology I have been using and the technology that I would be showcasing with the help of my students. I was selected as one of the 115 schools that will be demonstrating what classrooms from Kindergarten through 12th grade use. My students and I will be showcasing Littlebits and what we have learned about circuits. Last year my students showed how to create and use a Jeopardy game on their iPads.
I am excited to be attending Tech Day again this year. It is essential that legislators see the importance of technology in our schools and classroom and hopefully influence them to funds more of this type of learning.
